Burrito Song

It's official...there is a song for everything imagineable. I was looking at videos on youtube when I came across one made by kids for a Mexican burrito song. It's a pretty cute song with some burrito pictures and a nice graphic of an old man. Haha enjoy!

How big is too big?

Burritos the size of your head? As big as a baby? Who in the world can manage to eat all that? Apparently, from the looks of it, many people. On this website that I found there is a group of people making some of the biggest burritos in the world. Takes a lot of work and a lot of mouths to eat! I'm starting to find burritos better and better the more that I eat them...not too good for my pocket or my stomach! Check out some pictures of some h-u-g-e burritos!

Recipe!

So tonight I decided to make my first burrito...this has been in the works for awhile I've actually just been afraid to actually try it. I found this recipe in a book but I changed it around a little bit so that I was sure I would atleast like the ingredients, and it came out pretty good!

1 slice tortilla bread
1 cup of baking mix
1/4 cup of water
1/2 cup of white rice
1/2 lb of chicken *I used buffalo style*
1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese
(the directions called for 1 cup of thick salsa...instead I added a bunch of buffalo sauce :)
enough lettuce to fill it up!

From there you grease a pan. Mix the rice, water, and baking mix together. Spread those ingredients onto your tortilla bread and add the chicken and cheese. Bake for 30 minutes between 375-400 degrees. Then take it out, add some lettuce and enjoy!

I'm not sure if you really consider chicken in making it an "authentic" burrito, but hey I actually cooked something! I meant to take a picture, but my battery died :( better luck next time!

Well look on the bright side...

Well if you're in the California area and you lose your job...atleast there's a free burrito to look forward to! Are these advertising agents serious? I mean it's nice and all that they are giving away free food, but at the expense of losing your job? At the same time, it does kind of lighten the mood of "I lost my job, now let me get my burrito." I think J. Holleran explains it perfectly. To sum it up, after buying the postage, the envelope, photo copying, and driving to the mailbox, you have already bought the price of the burrito. I also think its kind of funny how Carey Rowland, author of Glass half-Full, does seem to agree with the promotional use of the advertisement. Well, I hope no one has to experience the loss of their job, but atleast you can enjoy a nice free lunch.

Apparently burritos are bad for you...who would have thought?

So...normally for work, as I have mentioned before, we go and eat burritos. I mean there less than $5 and take about 2 minutes to make, it's perfect. However, the place right across the street from us is selling HUGE salads for $3, ($2 if you work in the pharmacy since they love us). Now, everyone goes the "healthy way" and eats salads. Burritos are long gone, but hey I'm still gonna get them...I'll enjoy my non-healthy burritos.
In researching the unhealthiness of burritos, I came across a Taco Bell Nutrition Summary. Here you can pick anything on their menu and calculate how good/bad it is for you. I chose a regular size spicy chicken burrito with regular amounts of sauce and toppings. That's about 400 calories, 17 grams of fat, and 1190 milligrams of sodium, among the others. Well, maybe I will go with a salad...

P.S. I found a burrito blog all from Anna's Taqueria *where I get mine in Boston!*

"I feel puffy...very puffy"

Well of all things to have an eating contest with, burritos were chosen. I can understand the hot dog eating contests and such, but burriots??? They are loaded with food! I can barely manage to eat one, nevermind the record holding of 12. A burrito contest I would certainly lose, but hey, they are fun to watch! I found a news article of this event and it even includes a video where you can watch people stuff their stomachs. Enjoy!

Website Fun!

So I found this website dedicated to burritos. It's pretty cool there's burrito poetry...which is kind of interesting. Then a bunch of recipes for burritos, information about them and you can even order some online. A burrito game is also available and test the quickness of your fingers. My roommates and I are planning to attempt the making of a burrito from one of the recipes shown sometime this week. I'll let you know how that one goes! I'm thinking we're gonna try the pork one but we'll see, we're going to try the easiest one. Also, pictures will be necessary for that disaster waiting to happen.

Try your skills at the game and maybe even cooking with a recipe! :) Adios!

Are you a burrito person?

So, while researching the burrito, I stumbled across a website sponsored by Qdoba Mexican Grill that quizzes you on what type of Mexican food are you. And surprisingly...I'm a burrito person! Apparently, being a burrito person, I am romantically compatible with everyone. Guess that just forces me out more into the world of trying new types of food/burritos. The adventure continues! The questions really have nothing to do with Mexican food, but hey it gives you something to do!

And if you also happen to be a burrito person...lets go out for one :)
